Former deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. Joseph Yammin has stated that some national executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) are responsible for the party’s defeat in the general elections 2016.
According to him, some members of the party at the national level used their high authority power to impact the handling of some parliamentary aspirants who have lost touch on the grounds.
He said favoritism in the party is the main reason that party has not shown good performance in the presidential elections.
He made these statements during a postmortem analysis of the 2016 elections on a radio station. He said, ‘if the individual interest from the party headquarters succeeds the interest of the whole party this is the thing that you get.’
The results of the 2016 parliamentary and presidential elections announced by Electoral Commission (EC) on Friday night, two days after polls close on 5:00pm Wednesday (without 4 constituencies) have shown that Presidential candidate of NPP, Nana Akufo-Addo is a next President of Ghana
He contended there were some able applicants who might give victory to party, however, a few powers that be guaranteed their political career never appeared. NDC did not choose its parliamentary candidates wisely and that was the biggest error.
