France has complimented President-elect Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo for becoming fifth President of the fourth Republic of Ghana by winning overall 55,716,026 votes from registered voters.
A statement issued by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs praised Ghana’s Electoral Commission for conducting peaceful elections and also praised democracy of the country.
It also commended outgoing President John Dramani Mahama for his good works and expressed that France is looking forward to expand its partnership with Ghana in the coming years.
President Election Nana Akufo-Addo unseats President Mahama by securing 53.85 % of valid votes. He also beats five other Presidential candidates of other contesting parties.
The United States of America and the United Kingdom have also sent congratulatory messages to new President.
President-elect is expected to join office on 7 January 2016.
