Q: First of all we want to say welcome to you.
A: Thank you for taking the time to reach out to hear more about me as an artist. Its overwhelming to be honest and mind-blowing the fact that people care this much.
Q: Where are you from?
A: I’m originally from Nashville. I moved to Tampa three years ago. It was a amazing choice. I have met the most supportive friends down here and the EDM culture is HUGE.
Q:How did your career in the music industry start?
A: Great question! I kinda just decided to start making Music and finding ways to express my feelings. Its crazy to think that my music has an influence and I want to use that influence to help speak for people who struggle with mental health themselves.
Q: You mentioned you struggled through mental health, and I have to be honest, your new single, you can definitely hear the struggle in the song, do you worry that people will take this song differently?
A: I want people to experience my music and make their own assumptions. I want the Song to be able to touch people and help them understand what goes through my head on a daily basis. I want to speak for people who struggle just like myself, to feel like they have a voice as well. If people like it, they like it. If they don’t, that is fine too. I make music to express my feelings.That is my goal with my music.
Q: The name for your new song, Blind To It All, comes out on March 30th. This is your first EDM song you have made. Tell us what was going through your mind when you made this song
A: This song speaks for the way I was feeling before I met my partner, Dillon. I felt so alone, and my mind was battling itself. I just got out of a two-year relationship that I thought was going to be a long-term situation and I was devastated. I saw the person I love just leave me like I was nothing. I felt like nothing and I wanted my fans to feel that sadness, anger, and resentment I felt. I feel like this song will connect to people who have gone through similar situations. I want them to know that Killakfromthebay understands, and we will get through it together. I want that when I do shows after I finish playing, I want hug my fans and let them know everything will be okay, because that’s what I needed but I didn’t have anybody to turn to. At least now, people will have my music to turn to when they are struggling.
Q:I can understand that, so who helped you through your musical journey?
A: I would say my partner Dillon, man, how do I start about him. I am so lucky to have a person who not only supports everything I do, but someone who also loves me for me and also will uplift me when I am struggling. I think every day about this. Ever since I met him, he has not only looked out for me, but also someone I could talk to about anything. Im so lucky to have that. I would also say my friends. They have supported everything I have done so far. Its nice to know that you have people pushing you to release and grow and get better. I’m thankful for them as well.
Q:Who gave you pieces of advice?
A: About my music? I would say a lot of people. I sometimes reach out to some friends who have classical training that if I need them to listen to it and tell me where I went wrong is amazing. I would also watch Noah Benhaim (@Noahbenhaim) on tiktok doing sets when he lived in New York and told him all the time, I wanted to make music myself. He always supported that. I finally started to make my own music. I would also say Samuel Ford (@Samliveslit) has also not only took the time to listen to most of my music before its released but also give me feedback on what he thinks about it honestly. He has been in the scene longer than I have, and I am lucky to call him a friend. I’m lucky to have such supportive friends.
Q: I have to ask since I am the first person to interview you, what is your message to your fans?
A: My message would be that even though you struggle every day and night, people love you. You may not see it but people do. I don’t care if you are gay, trans, straight, black, white, or green, we are all the human race and we all need to come together and help each other through whatever we are going through. Black Lives Matter, Trans Lives Matter, YOU matter, at least to me and when you are struggling, you can always listen to my music to help you through it. Peace, Love, Unity, Respect.
Q:I know you are pretty mysterious, but can you let the fans know about any upcoming projects you have coming up?
A: I truthfully haven’t got that far. I have just been trying to figure out what all this entails and work through it. It’s so overwhelming. I just make music of how I am feeling and one day I will make a dubstep song, the next I’ll make a house song, the next I will make a riddim song. I want Killakfromthebay to be a surprise.
Q: I want to thank you for taking the time out of your day to tell us about your music and we look forward to seeing more out of Killakfromthebay. I see all over your Instagram you’re in a happy committed relationship, my last question is, how do you think that will affect when you go do shows in other states? I know that you aren’t doing anything right now, just making music, but in the future.
A: I don’t think it will change anything. I am in a happy COMMITTED relationship. My man gives me everything and more and I wouldn’t be where I am at without him. If I go somewhere, I will want him there as well. He worked with me just as hard, and no other person will compare to that. He is in it for the long haul, and other people are in it for the clout. I respect him enough to not put myself in those positions, and he trust me enough to make those decisions. Its what a relationship is about and what I have been looking for.
