“Await the Dawn” (2020): Garbage Homage to 80s Horror
If you’ve never seen one of the onslaught of slaughterhouse gorefests from the 1980s, then 2020’s “Await the Dawn” will fill the bill. Presenting practically the precise look and feel of the low-budget horror film fodder of the zany decade that brought us everything from Cabbage Patch Dolls to Rubik's Cube to Boy George, you’re gonna swear thatyou’ve gone straight...wait for it now...Back to the Future.
One of the eclectic era’s scream queens supremeeven shows up here. Dee Wallace, whostarred in 1981’s “The Howling” and ‘83’s “Cujo”, acts her ass right off as a beleaguered mother living a nightmare of bloodthirsty supernatural entities and severed skulls.
Dee Wallace. Transformative in 1981's "The Howling".
Which is half of what can be said in full of his flick. It’s, like, totally rad.
Uh, let's make that bad.
