“Ash and Bone” (2022): Breaking &Entering is Bad
Shoulda played away from that pad, PYT.
A bored teenage metal chick and her buds break into a home in a remote Michigan small town. They quickly find that they have entered a house from hell.
What follows is relatively well-acted horror fodder. If not entirely coherent.
Oh, we have here the requisite genre tropes. Like discovering there is no cell service to be had, natch. And then, of course, there’s the scene of wandering downinto a dark basementfor no useful purpose other than the long-since pounded into powder plot device.
I shouldn't go on.
But I just can’t help it…
*The bedroom scene. Your appendages are completely free. Kick this apparently weaponless miscreant in the midsection already, dude!
*Even after you fail to do so, you actually expect us to believe that you’re now aroused by this…...thing? WU-HUH?!!
Turned on yet?
Alas, however, the final image in “Ash and Bone” is admittedlypretty spooky. Is she channeling a sicko spirit or just fuckin’ with ol’ dad and stepmommy.
Bone-chilling, yeah. But still not near enough to raise this messy misfire from the ashes.
