The Admission to almost all the Engineering in Chandigarh has begun. The University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET) will be conducting admission process for all the city colleges. Last date for online registration is 22 June, 2017.




The Punjab Engineering College (PEC) has the maximum number of seats (667) followed by the UIET (585). The Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology (CCET) has 252 seats while the University Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology (UICET) has 195. The admission to the UIET’s Hoshiarpur campus, which has 260 seats, will also be conducted. Four rounds of counselling will take place starting from July 7. This year only JEE score of candidates will be considered for admission, not his or her Class XII performance. A minimum of 60 per cent marks are required in Class XII by candidates belonging to the general category and 55 per cent by persons with disability and those belonging to the SC/ST/BC category. The students, who have passed their qualifying examination from city schools, recognised by the Administration, will be considered under the UT quota while all others will be considered under the all India quota for PEC and the CCET.




For the admissions to government as well as private colleges in the city a web portal has been launched by the Higher education Department. Now the students wishing to apply will not have to go to each college. Candidates will only have to visit the college chosen for the centralized admission process for their desired subjects. The students will be required to create an account and can then apply for courses and choose colleges on the website dhe.chd.gov.in. They can upload their documents on the website and will not be required to carry the original ones at the time of counselling. A mobile application ‘e-campus’ has also been launched. It can be used for the payment of fee and downloading prospectus for free. The last date to apply online is June 26.
