Rolling Stone's 10 Best Movies of 1980

The 1980s were a magical decade for movies.  Some all time classics were made then.  Of course, not all of them were recognized as classics at the time.  And some were hailed as great and were then promptly forgotten.  That's what makes looking at lists of what were at the time considered the top movies so much fun.  So, here is Rolling Stone's list of the top 10 movies of 1980!

Airplane! (No argument here!)
Breaker Morant (Don't know this one)
Coal Miner's Daughter (It's a good movie.  I don't know if I'd call it one of the best though.)
The Empire Strikes Back (As a Star Wars nerd, this one is a big 10-4)
Mon Oncle d'Amerique (Another one I am not familiar with)
Nine To Five (Definitely a good movie, and I remember it being hailed as a game changer at the time)
Ordinary People (I haven't seen this one, but I have heard a lot about it and it seems to have withstood the test of time)
The Shining (This is a great movie, but personally I think Friday the 13th, which also came out that year, is better.  I know the Kubrick faithful will want to burn me at the stake for that, but oh well.)
The Stunt Man (Not familiar)
Tess (Not familiar)

Now of course, it is always possible that I am a cinematic philistine, and I am sure that extreme film buffs are scoffing at me until they are choking, but I would wager that most of the general audience is not more familiar with these movies than I am, so that's a 40% miss (at least, after all I might know some of these movies that the wider public missed or has forgotten).  Actually, when it comes to predicting what movies will be sticking around, that's not bad.
