Harry Houdini was a world renowned escape artist.  This required him to be in spectacular physical condition.  This made it somewhat of a surprise when Houdini died as a result of being punched in the stomach by a fan, who thought that Houdini had braced himself to take the blows as he often did to impress people.  At Mr. Houdini's funeral it was reported that one pallbearer, Mr. Dillingham, said to another, Florenz Ziegfeld, "Ziggie, I bet you $100 he ain't in here."
