In their early days Black Sabbath had a hard time getting booked for gigs.  Since they couldn't get gigs of their own, they would find out where Jeff Beck was scheduled to play.  Beck was notorious for blowing off gigs, and if he didn't show Sabbath would offer to play in his place.
