The best leaders recognize that there are teams that want a leader who knows where they are taking the organization.
The best leaders don’t try to manage the results. Rather they manage the people who are responsible for producing and achieving the results.
The best leaders do not tolerate mediocre employees producing mediocre performance. They know that mediocre performance punishes everyone including the best performers.
The best leaders live by the rule you hire slow but fire fast. They look to always hire franchise players who produce great results versus hiring the cheapest farm team player they can find.
The best leaders live by the simple rule – you own it, fix it, learn from it and move on.
The best leaders never procrastinate or try to study all the sides of a circle; they make the best decisions they can with the information they have available.
The best leaders are believable and trustworthy; possess a high degree of credibility; demonstrate sound judgment; are accountable for everything that happens and are approachable for all of the members of their team.
The best leaders have an internal focus and orientation towards action; they know that time is of the essence and quick decisions (at times) need to be made. They never stand still and they’re not afraid of maneuvering to look at their situation from a different perspective to help them find a way forward.
