Nikki Davis-Jones understudied as Elphaba at the West End and is now playing the role in the UK and Ireland Tour that is starting today, September12, 2012. Davis-Jones commented recently on several aspects of the show and the tour.

She feels that the reason the whole storyline keeps surviving over the years is its universal appeal. ”There’s so much throughout the story that people connect to”, said Davis-Jones. Connections can be made for most people across multiple axes of the storyline, from bullying to love interests and many other aspects.
She loves playing to norther audience because they’re so “mental”. We can only assume she meant good things by that.
So far, the reaction to the show is highly positive (see Twitter remarks below). We are excited to catch the tour at one of the dates.
