Although it’s only Thanksgiving, Hulu is ready to bring you some festive cheer to you with the Solar Opposites Holiday Special, aptly titled “A Very Solar Holiday Opposites Special”. While I wouldn’t say it’s family friendly, it’s definitely a barrel of laughs. Solar Opposites not only nail their own holiday special, but they also succeed in their parody of everyone else’s. The four main aliens Korvo (Justin Roiland), Yumyulack (Sean Giambrone), Terry (Thomas Middleditch), and Jesse (Mary Mack) all go in search for the Christmas spirit by entering classic Christmas movies such as Love Actually, It’s a Wonderful Life, and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer by way of Korvo’s Ready Player One machine. They end up sliding into Jingle All the Way (a movie I absolutely adore) and end up losing their Christmas cheer. Realizing that they must complete the story in order to get their Christmas cheer back, the family reenters the movie only to find out that 80 years have passed, and the world has turned into a desolate Escape From New York-esque wasteland.
