*Remy Ma celebrated her 43rd birthday recently but the artist joked during the star-studded party that she’s shaving a few years off her age because she doesn’t count the time she spent in prison, or on lockdown during the pandemic.
According to Vibe, the rapper said, “I got everybody in here number. We call, text, we talk s—… so I appreciate all of y’all coming to my 35th birthday. I don’t f—ing count the ones when I was in prison, and I don’t count the ones from COVID.”
As PEOPLE reports, the surprise party was organized by Remy’s husband Papoose, 45, who also hit up Instagram to show love to the hip-hop star.
“Surprised the Queen @remyma with 1 of her fav rappers,” he captioned the post. “Felt good to see her genuinely surprised & happy. She’s made my born day special so many times. This was well deserved. Peace to the Harlem Legend my bro @rsvpmase Real people do real things. Peace to @roseaym @hennessy @tunecore ‘Head of Hip Hop.'”

Guests at the Prohibition-era-themed party in New Jersey included Fabolous, Fat Joe, and Ma$e, according to PEOPLE.
“When they told me I was having a dinner party. I was really surprised because I really don’t like anybody at all. Like, at all,” Remy told family and friends at the event, according to MadameNoire. ”But everybody here, I love and genuinely have a love for…and I appreciate everybody coming here for my 35th birthday.”
In 2008, Remy was sentenced to eight years in prison for shooting a friend in the abdomen during an argument. She was released after serving six years.
