India will be the world's fastest Growing Major Economy in 2018. But it faces some major challenges.
1. Inclusive Growth - India ranks 62nd out of 74 emerging economies for inclusive development. The richest 1% in India owns 53% of the wealth. Poverty is falling but 6 out of 10 Indians live on less than $3.20 per day.
2. Climate Change - India suffers some of the worst air pollution on the planet. In 2017, doctors said breathing Delhi's air was the equivalent of smoking 50 cigarettes a day. but India is canceling the construction of new coal fired power plants. And becoming a world leader in renewables.
3. Education - Access to primary education is almost universal in india. but only around half of secondary age children go to school. And 10.5% of graduates in India are unemployed.
4. Closing the Gender Gap - India ranks 136th out of 144 countries for women's participation in the labour force. but India is in 1st place for enrolment of girls in primary and secondary education. If India can beat these challenges a bright future awaits.
