Land Sailing (La Torche, Finistere) - Fun ages 10 and up, land sailors can go up to 25 miles an hour in one of these. Afterwards, enjoy a caramel apple treat at nearby Creperie le Rayon Vert.

Kayaking Sea Caves (Crozon Peninsula) - This peninsula has plenty of nooks and crannies that are ideal for kayaking. Keep going north and you'll reach the lie Vierge pebbly beach and turquoise sea.

Surfing (Plage De La Côte, Biarritz) - Grab your longboard and pull a soul arch on these clean peelers at low tide. Post-sesh, a variety of shops and cafes serve up local Basque surf culture, from fashion to food.

Dune Paragliding (La Teste-De-Buch) - The Landes pine forest ends at this two mile long, 300 foot high dune of silken sand and silence. Hope for a slightly overcast day, book the Endurance experience, and ask for "the wagga" stunt.

Cycling (Passage Du Gois) - The 2018 Tour de France will start on this causeway, which disappears under high tide. Anyone can travel this route. The French consider cycling one of life's simple pleasures.
