Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor has not been that lucky when it comes to box office numbers. His last few films like Jagga Jasoos and Tamasha didn’t do well at the box office even after being praised by the critics.

Today, at the teaser launch event of his next, Sanju, Ranbir spoke about his failure and what all things he learnt from Rajkumar Hirani.

When a journalist asked Ranbir that he had said that he learnt from Raju sir what it means to entertain people and Vidhu ji said that he is an incredible actor with stupid choices in scripts. So is that going to change with this film?

Ranbir said, “You know if every actor knew what he was doing with a plan, everybody would be a superstar. I am trying to learn from my own mistakes. I keep reminding myself that it is just a bend and not the end, zindagi bahut lambi hai (smiles). Life is tough, it requires a lot of hard work and his (Rajkumar Hirani) title of the film, Lage Raho which means keep working. What I learnt from Raju sir is the power of entertainment. The power of not what’s entertaining to you but what’s entertaining to people.”

He further added, “When a filmmaker makes a film for audience and not for himself, that’s such a learning. I have been a part of lot of films, good and lot of bad films and I am a part of all of it. It is not that I regret doing it. But just the understanding of what the cinema is that’s something I have understood. Not saying that now I will be only in successful films, I will make a lot of mistakes but the understanding was very important to me.”

During the teaser launch, director Rajkumar Hirani was asked about how much of the film has been fictionalised, he said, “I don’t think we have added fiction. But we can say that sometimes you do need to dramatise something. We have tried to keep it true and based on real facts. Many things were toned down and dramatised.”

On being asked if we will see any old songs of Sanjay Dutt in the film?

Tseries’ head Bhushan Kumar said, “We have some amazing songs in the film. The film doesn’t have old songs. All the songs are new. The kind of film this is, we can’t take old songs in it because that is shot on Sanjay Dutt.”
