Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan is repeating the history of India at the China box office. The movie despite extremely tough competition from Hollywood films is rock steady as it enters its 3rd week in China.
Emotionally driven films have always worked with the audience in China, be it Dangal or Secret Superstar. Tale of Pavan Kumar Chaturvedi aka Bajrangi escorting little Munni to Pakistan has touched the hearts of many in China. People are connecting with the story hence resulting into a super strong word of mouth.
The movie ended its 2nd week by collecting USD $ 1.11 million on its 2nd Thursday. On its 3rd Friday the movie collected USD $ 0.93 million but Saturday came in as a huge surprise as the movie jumped more than 100% and collected USD $ 2.02 million. Till date, Bajrangi Bhaijaan has collected USD $ 34.07 million ( 221.47 crores) in China.
Eros International, in association with Chinese film company E Stars Films Ltd, released the movie in China during the Chinese Lantern Festival. Dubbed in Chinese, the film got a wide release across 8,000-plus screens, the statement said.
