Solo: A Star Wars wasn’t the hit Lucasfilm/Disney were hoping when it hit theaters last summer. The criminally underrated film had production issues from the jump, even changing directors mid-way through production. This caused the budget to balloon up over $250 million, putting a lot of pressure on its box office haul. Ultimately, it grossed just shy of $400 million worldwide, not nearly good enough for Disney and they put all other spinoff Star Wars stories on hold.
But, it does look like those characters’ stories may be continuing on the small screen. According to WeGotThisCovered.com, Lucasfilm is developing multiple standalone series for both Lando and Qi’Ra for Disney+, Disney’s new streaming service. Both featured prominently in Solo but Lando has been a part of the Star Wars universe since Empire Strikes Back; Qi’Ra appeared for the first time in Solo.
No details whatsoever have been released for the two reported series so it’s unknown whether Donald Glover or Emilia Clarke will reprise their roles. It’d be a shame to see another actor portray Lando after Glover’s scene-stealing performance in Solo. However, with Atlanta season three as well as his music career and a myriad of other projects, it’s hard to see a way he could fit another show into his schedule. The same goes for Clarke as her star continues to rise in Hollywood. So much so that after Thrones season 8 caps off the series later this year, she may be booked for a couple years.
