Barton will be re-evaluated in six weeks, ultimately meaning, he’s out until early December 2018.
The injury happened on Saturday in the third quarter against the Phoenix Suns. Barton was carted off the floor shortly after suffering the injury.
Barton told reporters that he felt something pop while he was going up for a basket early in the third quarter. He underwent an MRI Saturday causing him to miss the Nuggets’ last-second win against the Golden State Warriors.
Nuggets guard Will Barton (Adductor muscle) will have surgery tomorrow and is expected to be out 5-6 weeks, a source said.

Barton, Nuggets’ doctors and his agent found surgery to be the best option for the sixth-year player, whom recently signed a four-year, $54 million deal this past summer.
Interestingly enough, Barton’s new teammate Isaiah Thomas is still on the mend from a hip injury that has basically shut him down since the summer of 2017.
Second-year player Torrey Craig took the starting spot Sunday for the Nuggets. That looks to continue as Denver faces the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night in Denver.
