In search of some additional backcourt help, the Atlanta Hawks swung a trade with the Washington Wizards that landed them point Guard Sheldon Mac, according to The Vertical’s Shams Charania:

Though this is more low-profile compared to some of the other deals we’ve seen prior to the trade deadline, this is a fitting move for both teams.
The Wizards, who are the ones typically giving picks away this time of year, will receive a protected second rounder from the Hawks according to to NBC Washington’s Chris Miller:
Wizards trade Sheldon Mac to Atlanta for a protected second round pick. This moves frees up a roster spot and cash #DCFamily

As stated, this frees up some cap space and an extra roster spot for a Wizards team hoping to shake things up in the playoffs this season.
Atlanta gets themselves a capable backup guard in Sheldon Mac who played a minor role for Washington last season. The 25-year-old Miami product remains sidelined for the time being after tearing his Achilles back in October.
