Raptors Guard Delon Wright Suffers Dislocated Right Shoulder

Delon Wright could miss some time with a banged up shoulder (Dan Hamilton/USAToday Sports)

Always a quality team in the Eastern Conference, the Toronto Raptors have even surpassed expectations early on as they have notched a win in 10 of their first 15 games. On Wednesday however, the Raptors took a blow on the injury front, as backup guard Delon Wright exited a game versus the New Orleans Pelicans in the second quarter with a shoulder injury.

Upon further examination, the team announced it has been discovered that Wright suffered a dislocated right shoulder:

Though Wright missed last night’s game against the New York Knicks, it remains to be seen how long the 3rd-year man will be out of action.

After the departure of Cory Joseph this past offseason, Delon Wright has been thrust into the backup point guard role to All-Star Kyle Lowry. Wright has done an average job spelling Lowry, though he split some of those reserve minutes with the emerging Fred Van Vleet.

Wright was averaging 7.6 points per game along with 2.6 assists and 2.2 rebounds in slightly over 20 minutes of playing time prior to sustaining the injury. Look for Van Vleet to see a slight uptick in minutes and for Lorenzo Brown to be in the mix as well after being activated for the first time all season last night and receiving 18 minutes of playing time.
