Russell Westbrook Says He and Kevin Durant Are Not Speaking

For years, one of the best stories in the NBA was the friendship between Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant. The two led the Oklahoma City Thunder into relevance after their move from Seattle, eventually taking them to the Finals.

All of that changed, however, when Durant decided on a move to the Bay Area to join the Golden State Warriors. Since then, we have heard about the two perhaps not being great friends to start with and about Westbrook’s anger that has fueled his MVP-caliber season.

On Wednesday, the duo played against each other for the second time this season (and in their respective careers). In a contentious affair that eventually led to Westbrook threatening Zaza Pachulia because of a hard foul, there was one moment when the old friends met again.

Obviously that doesn’t look like the most friendly conversation and that was made even more evident at the conclusion of the game. (Some NSFW language here):

After the game, Russ confirmed everything we basically already knew:

From the best friendship in the NBA to maybe the best rivalry. It may be a while before we see Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant speak again, especially as they won’t start the All-Star Game together.
