Knicks President Phil Jackson has had somewhat of a tumultuous stint with the franchise, an up-and-down tenure consisting of both genius moves, and questionable moves.

Taking Kristaps Porzingis with the No. 4 pick in 2015 resulted in mass criticism from the beginning, with many fans wondering if Jackson was the President they originally hoped to have. That pick turned out to be a money selection, with Porzingis now viewed as being New York’s most valuable commodity.

One year later, Jackson and his contingency sign vet center Joakim Noah to a four-year, $72 million year. Confidence in Jackson in Knicks fans’ mind begins wavering once more.

Months pass, and Jackson is questioned on his “posse” comments about LeBron James, along with his ball-holding comments about Carmelo Anthony. Anthony, Jackson’s superstar in New York, was reportedly not happy with Jackson about either situation. Anthony has recently spoken with a player who has a vast history with Jackson, seeking some advice: Kobe Bryant.

“Me and Kobe have countless conversations about that,” Anthony said (via ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne).

“That’s something I’ve learned over the years, especially with Phil,” Anthony said, referring to the advice Bryant gave him. “[Jackson’s] going to talk. Nobody can stop that. So try not to read into it too much.”

The relationship between Phil Jackson and Carmelo Anthony is somewhat of a mystery. Jackson has confidence in Anthony being the team’s leader, but his often times unwise choice of words about Anthony lead to vast confusion across New York.

The Knicks, regardless of some off-the-court drama, currently sport a 13-10 record and are ranked sixth in the Eastern Conference.
