The Queen’s Treasures

The Queen’s Treasures has always been a friend to Confessions of a Doll Collectors Daughter. Recently, they sent us a few products to review. I wanted to share a bit about them with you!

First, let’s start with a bit of background. The Queen’s Treasures is a US based company that specializes in 18″ doll furniture. Opened in 2005 by Joann Cartiglia, the line has expanded to also include dolls and outfits. With a goal of stimulating the kind of creative play which requires imagination instead of batteries, the company focuses on quality and not just with their products! Over the years, they’ve partnered with well known licenses, including Little House on the Prairie and the Dr. Jane Goodall Foundation to create special lines celebrating the stories of Laura Ingalls and Jane Goodall. You’ll find more reviews of The Queen’s Treasures products here.

Before I get started, I just wanted to let you know that if you decide to order from The Queen’s Treasures, we have a coupon code for you! Little House Barn Storage Trunk

The Little House on the Prairie Barn Storage Trunk is so neat! Aesthetically, I love how this looks like the exterior of a barn. It fits in perfectly with the Little House line, but fits in well with any story you may be telling that needs a barn. First off, it’s massive at 20.5″H X 30″W X 6.25″L. Besides storing clothing, it also fits two 18″ dolls and has six shelves to display smaller accessories on when the barn doors are closed. It’s a doll display, play accessory and storage area in one. I love it!

As expected, it’s made well from wood and metal pieces. The doors slide back and forth nicely. You can tell thought was put into the design of this trunk. Besides the main barn trunk, you also get four hangers and a wall mount to safely display it. The sheer amount of storage space with this Little House on the Prairie barn trunk, perfect for display and play, makes this a winner.

Little House School Desk

The Little House on the Prairie School Desk is one of a few on The Queen’s Treasures website. They are fantastic props for photos or for imaginative play. Laura Ingalls prairie school desk fits two dolls, not just one! Your dolls can sit side by side fairly comfortably in this wooden desk designed with care. The desk includes a mini inkwell and play dip pen. The ink well isn’t placed in with glue and will pop in and out of the desk freely. Be careful of this if you have little ones around.

I think the design of this desk is very well done. Sometimes fitting one doll in a desk can be awkward, but it fits two dolls much better than I thought. The proportions of the prairie school desk seem just right for 18″ dolls. Also, it’s very nicely put together. I love the real wood craftsmanship.

Black Susan and Jack

Another thing The Queen’s Treasures gets right is their animals! They’re so cute! Now, the company offers a variety of pets for 18″ dolls, but specifically for the Little House series, they have Black Susan and Jack. Both animals are featured in the Little House books. They are well proportioned, though Jack the Bulldog may be a little big for his 18″ doll counterpart.

Jack’s fur is a lovely brindle color, which looks and feels great. He comes with a jute rope collar. Unfortunately, neither of them are articulated. That being said, that’s not a major issue for me. It would be nice if they were to create some animals with movement one day, though. Jack’s fur is soft and he has great facial details.

Black Susan is purr-fect. (See what I did there?) She’s better proportioned than Jack and is in a more active pose. Being a black cat, the company needed to make her stand out and I think they did a good job in that department with how they molded her limbs. Black Susan has the cutest little face! I adore it! It doesn’t always photograph well, so you’ll have to trust me on this! In person, she has the sweetest face.
