GOP: The Anti-Science Party (Or A Look At The Intellectual Foundations Of America's Nazi Party)

Background:
1. BREAKING: Nazism Has Been Repackaged As "Conservatism" Part 1 - GOP And Fox News Lie The Way Hitler Explained
2. Trump's America: Trump, The GOP & Fox News Managed To Make Nazis Mainstream (Hitler Is Probably Laughing In His Grave At His Afterlife Win Of WW2!)

This post simply presents a bunch of evidence that Trump and the GOP are anti-science to such an extent that they can be called the anti-fact party or pro-lie party or Nazis.

First notice the Trump Administration's War on Science...

Trump's administration's seven banned words are an attack on science

(CNN)On Thursday, according to the Washington Post, policy analysts at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention were told by others in the Trump administration that the use of seven specific words and phrases would be prohibited. On the list are the words "vulnerable," "diversity," "entitlement," "transgender," "fetus," "evidence-based," and "science-based." The decision has not only been deemed as reckless and dangerous, but an offense to the scientific community. This goes far beyond an attack on lexicon or word-choice. A ban on words not only creates barriers for scientists who need to communicate, but also breaks public trust in the areas they are meant to investigate and research.

CNN hosts a scientist to explain why Trump’s government agencies banning words is dangerous and anti-science Rush Holt: “This epidemic of neglect of evidence is really serious because if you want policies and regulations that work, they should be based on our best understanding of how things are”

More questions about a Trump admin war on science

Friday, the Interior Department asked the National Academies of Sciences to halt a study of the health effects of a common mining technique in Appalachia, which is believed to deposit waste containing toxic minerals in ground waters.

Interior's request to halt its study on the health risk of mountaintop removal represents a familiar pattern to critics. "Mountaintop removal mining has been shown to cause lung cancer, heart disease, and other medical problems," Rep. Raul Grijalva of Arizona, the top Democrat on the House natural resources committee, said in a statement.

Rosenberg said there are signs of such a strategy throughout various government departments and agencies. Interior also froze the work of more than 200 advisory boards, committees and subcommittees in May.

The Trump Administration’s War on Science Agencies Threatens the Nation’s Health and Safety Budget cuts and layoffs threaten the nation's health and safety

As scientists, we have watched with dismay as senior positions in our federal science agencies remain unfilled, science advisory panels get disbanded and science-based policies are undermined. But amid this governmental turmoil, another, longer-term development is under way that will affect the lives of everyone in the U.S. and take its toll on others around the world—the loss of critical expertise and capacity in the science agencies of the federal government, including the Environmental Protection Agency, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, among many others. The science-related cuts proposed by the Trump administration come in programs that deal with issues it opposes ideologically, such as climate change and the use of regulation to reduce pollution. These changes are only part of a larger effort to “deconstruct the administrative state,” as former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon has put it, and they reflect this administration's uniquely antiscience attitude.

TRNN SPECIAL: Trump, The Koch Brothers and Their War on Climate Science A documentary special reveals how climate change science has been under systematic attack; the multi-million dollar campaign allowed a climate change denier to be elected president (a new version with updated content and music)

Second, notice the pattern of anti-science and fear based (medieval age type) behavior exhibited by the GOP in the past (Trump's Anti-science stance isn't new)...

Vaccine science becomes GOP point of debate - Rachel Maddow reports on the litany of declared and expected Republican candidates for president in 2016 who seized upon the unexpected contention over the validity of vaccinations to clarify (or run from) their positions on the matter.

Anti-vaccination concerns not based in fact - Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, talks with Rachel Maddow about the health risks associated with not being vaccinated, and the importance of dispelling the myths behind the anti-vaccination argument.

The origin of the anti-vaccine movement - Chris Hayes is joined by Retro Report’s Bonnie Bertram to trace the current anti-vaccine movement back to one debunked, discredited study published in 1998.

MSNBC: The next phase in the war on science

For supporters of modern science, the prevailing political winds have to be discouraging. For example, congressional Republicans not only reject climate science en masse, but each of the incoming GOP senators are climate deniers.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) likes to mock NIH research as a punch-line. Republicans spent weeks balkingat the science of the Ebola virus. Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) doesn’t want to say whether he believes in evolution – and he was a biology major. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is poised to take over the Senate panel on science, and Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) will chair the Senate Environment Committee.

It’s been several years since my friend Chris Mooney wrote a terrific book called, “The Republican War on Science,” and I’m starting to think it may need a sequel. Michael Hiltzik reported yesterday:

Nothing is easier, if you’re a political philistine playing to an audience of anti-intellectual rubes, than to ridicule scientific research projects by caricature.

Republicans spent a year responding to questions about the climate crisis by saying, “I’m not a scientist.” But when it comes to evaluating the validity of research, suddenly they are scientists?

Mainstream GOP politicians actually promote fake science with passion ("its the constituent opinions that matter", they argue, irrespective of science of facts, apparently... I think this may be a ploy to appear like they are doing something rather than actually being useful to thier base as a leader)...
The GOP & the anti-vaccine movement - As the U.S. battles its worst measles outbreak in 20 years, Chris Christie and Rand Paul are defending what they call parents’ right not to vaccinate their children.
