Sanchez a tax fraud

New Manchester City signing Alexis Sanchez, has accepted a 16-month jail sentence for committing tax fraud in return for keeping away from a trial during his time at Barcelona.

The ex-Barcelona player confronted going to trial in Spain for defrauding the treasury of €1 million derived from his income from image rights deals in 2012 and 2013. However, Sanchez has reached an agreement with the prosecutor to pay the money he owes with interest. And therefore, he will not have to spend any time in prison.

In 2016, Sanchez was first denounced. During that, his agent said the Chile forward had “fully obeyed” laws and his image rights income “has been declared”. Sanchez, who joined United from Arsenal a month ago, is supposed to be the most generously compensated player in the Premier League following the transfer, acquiring around £500,000 seven days before tax gaining £14m a year after tax.
