Tuesday Trivia: Did You Know That Robert De Niro Was Arrested In A Paris Prostitution Ring Investigation?

There's no doubt that Robery De Niro is one great actor. Bit did you know that he was arrested by the French vice squad at the Bristol Hotel in Paris in February 1998? He was held for questioning in connection with an international prostitution ring. He was in Paris for the making of Ronin, an action Film by the director John Frankenheimer.

According to reports, police officers questioned the actor for several hours at his hotel, before taking him to Judge N'Guyen's chambers at the Palais de Justice in the evening. He was released after nine hours. He denied any involvement and vowed never to return to France again. Born in August 17, 1943 Robert De Niro is also a producer and director. He has starred in over 100 films. His first film role came at the age of 20, when he appeared in Brian De Palma's 1963 film The Wedding Party, but the film was not released until 1969. He was cast as the young Vito Corleone in the 1974 film The Godfather Part II, for which he won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. His long-time collaboration with director Martin Scorsese got him the Academy Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of Jake La Motta in the 1980 film Raging Bull. He received the AFI Life Achievement Award in 2003, and the Golden Globe Cecil B. DeMille Award in 2010. He received an Italian passport in 2006.

There were reports saying that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer in October 2003. He underwent surgery at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in December 2003. (Also read: Robert Di Niro pens a letter to Meryl Streep supporting her Golden Globe Awards speech)

His latest film, The Irishman just released recently. Directed and produced by Martin Scorsese and written by Steven Zaillian, it is based on the 2004 book I Heard You Paint Houses by Charles Brandt. It had its world premiere at the 57th New York Film Festival on September 27, 2019, and had a limited theatrical release on November 1, 2019, followed by digital streaming on Netflix starting on November 27, 2019.
