About a month back, Karan Johar uploaded a video on his Instagram handle ft. his celebrity friends having a good time at his place. Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor, Mira Rajput Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Malaika Arora, Varun Dhawan, Natasha Dalal, Rohit Dhawan, Vicky Kaushal and others were present for a Saturday night party at the filmmaker's place. Little did they know, a video from their gathering would actually create a stir on social media. A day after KJo shared the video, MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa accused the celebrities of flaunting their drugged state on basis of a white spot on the floor. For a good number of days, Karan Johar and his friends kept mum on this topic until KJo himself cleared the and mentioned all the claims as baseless.

Days after Karan Johar opened up about it, Vicky Kaushal, who also present at Karan's house, narrated what actually happened that Saturday night. At India Today Conclave Mumbai 2019, he said, "So, here's what really happened. Karan calls all of us, we're just chilling at his place. Three days before this, I had just recovered from dengue. I had been sitting at home for ten days, and doctors were like 'You can now get back to work.' So anyway at the party, five minutes before the video was made, Karan's mother was there, and had just put a little gangaajal on us."
The Masaan actor further stated that a 'scratch of the nose is a normal thing.' "My expression was perfect. That reflection was also caught. The next day I had gone to Arunachal Pradesh, where I spent four days with the military. I had no clue what was going on, I had no internet. I come back, meet my family, and was telling them about my trip. I was happy, as I had spent time with the military. I open Twitter and go "Hain?" I went back to my parents, and asked, Do you know about this?," he added.
