ZEE5, India s fastest growing OTT platform, has been successfully dishing out interesting and intriguing stories to keep viewers hooked and booked. Offering extravaganza and oodles of entertainment every month, a variety pack of films, web series and TV shows makes the platform a one-stop destination. Posham Pa, an upcoming original, is the latest addition to ZEE5 s content bag. It traces the Story of India s first female death row inmates, told via two documentarians. Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3 star Mahie Gill, Ragini Khanna, and Sayani Gupta have been roped in to play the female leads.
The story revolves around a psychologically disturbed mother who coerces her daughters into a life of crime. Their case becomes a national sensation, overnight, these women are monsters personified. The mother dies in custody, but the remaining two are sentenced to death in a first for the Indian Judiciary. The case of first females in India to have ever received the death penalty is then tried in Bombay High Court. The sisters are kept in different prison cells while the world deems that their punishment is valid.
In 2007, two young documentarians, Nikhat Ismail and Gundeep Saggar, set out to discover the real story of these two women. Made In Heaven fame Shivani Raghuvanshi and Imaad Shah shall essay the role of these documentarians. Their discoveries are shocking and horrifying equal parts. Were these women really criminals or just a product of circumstances? Were the sisters innocent as they claimed? Was police negligent in trying to put pieces of their story together? Were these sisters groomed, framed or murderers for real?
Posham Pa unravels this very mystery in its narrative and brings forth a case that attracted national attention. Produced by Ten Years Younger Productions LLP, Dhirajj Walks of Art Pvt Ltd, New Born Films LLP and Vishant Audio Visuals Pvt Ltd, the film releases on 21st August exclusively on ZEE5.
