It's never a bad time for a nice B-town biopic. Also, a Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer cause it always turns out to be good. And if you're a fan of both, this Friday is going to be a feast for you as Nawaz is coming with Thackeray where he will be seen essaying the life and role of Balasaheb Thackeray. The film is a bilingual venture and has been helmed by Abhijit Panse. In fact, the Marathi version has already hit the theatres and has met with a thunderous response. And come tomorrow, we will also get to see what Bollywood feels about the biographical, political drama. Our bet is, the actor is all set to do what he does best - surprise his viewers with the best they've seen!
In fact, after a recent exclusive interview with the man of the moment, it wouldn't be wrong to say that we're betting our money on it. That's right, the Manto star spoke at length about this film and how it was really challenging for him. Something that put him out of his comfort zone. When asked why, he said, "Hamare yahan kya hota hai, biopic bahut hi jaldi mimicry karne Lagte Hain. Caricature banane lagte hain."
We also asked him about the lopsided treatment to biopics that often looks white-washed, Nawaz spoke about the audience acceptance and retorted, "60 saal se hum apne hero ko glorify kar rahe hain! Uski toh acceptance hai. Kisi sports person ko, ya phir kisi aise aadmi ko (Balasaheb Thackeray), toh who kaunsi badi baat hai. Kyunki aapki toh habit hai. Saalon se toh dekhte aarahe hum glorified hero. Kabhi koi hero mein negative element dekhne ki koshish ki apne? Woh chalta hi nahi." Watch the video here.
Not just that he also expressed that, "Real character ko hero banaogey toh usmein kamiyan bhi rahegi, kuch aachayian bhi hongi, toh woh accept hi nahi karegi audience. Abhi uske liye bahut time lagega."
