Mrunal Thakur, Rahul Bose To Play Leads In Netflix's Baahubali Prequel Series - Read Details

Baahubali, the iconic film Series of SS Rajamouli has made records not only in south box office but also across the globe. Thus Netflix decided to make a spin-off of this iconic film franchise and it will be titled Baahubali: Before the Beginning. They announced this on Friday and this will star Mrunal Thakur and Rahul Bose in the lead roles. While Mrunal will be seen as Sivgami, Rahul will play the role of Skandadasa. Moreover, Atul Kulkarni, Vaquar Shaikh, Siddharth Arora, Jameel Khan and Anup Soni will make for the other cast ensemble. This grand announcement took place at Netflix s See What Next event in Asia. It was done in the presence of Prasad Devineni (producer), Praveen Sattaru (director) and Deva Katta (director). Sharing about her excitement in playing this role, Mrunal said, I knew I wanted to play Sivagami because she s a strong girl. I don t know if I ll ever be a hero in real life, but this gave me the opportunity to play one on screen." She further added, "I have played a victim in the past, but this character is something else. She is so confident, fierce and I m so fortunate." It s a prequel to both films. It will take fans into the backstories of the characters from the films, and we ll also be introducing new characters, revealed Prasad. He also mentioned that will be ser 50 years before the events of the first flick and will explore the lives on the streets of the fictional city, Mahishmati. The cherry on the cake is that the epic finale action sequence has been shot by Rajamouli himself and Mrunal shared her experience of working with him. To work with him was a delight. The sets are massive, it s a costume drama and I m very excited about the journey of Sivagami and her flaws, she said. The makers are aiming to please both the Baahubali fanbase as well as the huge audience of Netflix across the world. Sattaru revealed that neither it will be a north Indian series or a south Indian series but will be made for the global audience. The Baahubali series is expected to release n 2019.
