The blockbuster actor-director jodi of Mahesh Babu and Kortala Siva, who delivered a huge success with Srimanthudu are repeating the history with their latest venture Bharat Ane Nenu. The Telugu political drama grossed Rs 125 crore in just four days at the worldwide box office making it one of biggest hits of 2018. The film was very crucial for Mahesh Babu since his last two ventures Brahmotsavam and Spyder failed to earn big at the ticket windows.
Talking about the much needed success, Mahesh Babu told Indian Express, “Today, I’ve everything and my life is happy. But, for the last two years, I have been under pressure because I was not able to meet the expectations of the audience. They had a lot of hopes, I disappointed them. That was the tension I had before the release of this film. I will always be grateful to Siva garu (director Kortala Siva). I was in a similar phase before Srimanthudu. And again, he has given me a blockbuster at a time when I was under so much tension.” (Also Read: Mahesh Babu’s Bharat Ane Nenu beats Chiranjeevi’s Khaidi No 150, but could not defeat Ram Charan’s Rangasthalam in America)
The audience and movie buffs have praised the performance of Mahesh Babu and termed his one of the finest performance till date. Director Kortala Siva said that Mahesh was the first and only choice for Bharat’s character in his mind. “I wanted an actor who can play a politician who is heard without shouting, whom everybody listens to when he talks although he never raises his voice. Someone who could be assertive without getting unnecessarily aggressive. No one fitted the bill except Mahesh Babu. He is soft-spoken and yet persuasive. He is exactly like the Chief Minister he plays in my film. I can’t imagine making this film without Mahesh Babu as Bharath.”
