The two Bollywood releases this week opened to a poor response at the Box Office. Both the films saw a good growth on Saturday, however the collections are still not great. Abhay Deol-Patralekhaa starrer Nanu Ki Jaanu showed a growth of 80% and collected about Rs 1.25 cr on day 2. On the other hand, Ishaan Khatter-Malavika Mohanan’s Beyond The Clouds showed a growth of 60% and collected Rs 40 lakh on Saturday. Although Nanu Ki Jaanu had a decent 750 screens, the occupancy was very dull.
Beyond The Clouds dealt with a niche subject and could not appeal to a mass audience. Directed by Iranian director Majid Majidi, the film is a drama on human relationships, and has received critical acclaim. The growth should have been manifold to have a chance to hold over the weekdays. ALSO READ: Beyond The Clouds and Nanu Ki Jaanu have a slow start at the box office on Day 1
Our critic watch the film Beyond The Cloud and had this to say about the film, “Being a brother to Shahid Kapoor only makes things tricky, given the barrage of comparisons and parallels that will be drawn. But Ishaan manages to charm without having to walk in the shadow of his superstar elder sibling. There is a raw appeal to his natural acting ability and that has a certain beauty to it. The scene towards the climax, where he breaks down or those moments of him break dancing to a Prabhudheva song, showcase his untapped potential. Also being launched by Majidi is a bonus, since you get to really be mentored by a filmmaker who knows his craft so well.”
