It was a day of mourning for fans of Telugu cinema as veteran actress, Lakshmi Devi Kanakala passed away due to age related ailments. She has acted in a number of films and is mother of actor Rajeev Kanakala. She breathed her last at a private hospital in Hyderabad. At 78, she was suffering from a number of health issues. Besides her work in films like Police Lock Up, Prema Bandham and Oka Vuri Katha, she also ran a film training institute, which has trained the likes of Chiranjeevi and Allari Naresh. A number of actors came in to offer their last respects.  Junior NTR was seen someone back at her residence. Chiranjeevi also offered his condolences through a public message.

Allari Naresh wrote on Twitter on how she was a source of guidance and taught people to be humble. Rajiv Kanakala is a well known film and TV actor. He is married to Suma and they have a production house. He was last seen in films like Anando Brahma and Lie.

The late actress is survived by husband Devdas Kanakala, son Rajeev Kanakala, daughter Sri Lakshmi, daughter-in-law Suma, son-in-law Ramarao and grandchildren. Bollywood Life offers its condolences to the family in this time of mourning.
