Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat, which enjoyed a great extended opening weekend, witnessed huge dip on its first Monday at the box office. The film raked in Rs 15 crore yesterday and now stands with the grand total of Rs 129 crore. To be honest, the drop is huge, but since the ticket rates during weekdays are comparatively less, the collections are decent enough. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the collections on his Twitter account, “#Padmaavat passes the crucial ‘Monday test’… Maintains the momentum… Collects a SOLID figure… Wed [limited previews] 5 cr, Thu 19 cr, Fri 32 cr, Sat 27 cr, Sun 31 cr, Mon 15 cr. Total: ₹ 129 cr. India biz.”

By looking at the current trend, we are expecting the film to earn around Rs 160 crore in its opening week. Padmaavat which stars Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor in key roles is produced under the banners of Viacom 18 and Sanjay Leela Bhansali Productions. Despite facing severe criticism and backlash, the magnum opus has managed to impress the audience which can be reflected through its box office collections. Since there is no release in the upcoming week, Padmaavat will continue to rule at the ticket window. Made on the lavish budget of Rs 180 crore including promotion and marketing. The makers, later on, spent around Rs 20 crore to convert their film into 3D and IMAX format. Apart from Hindi, the film is also released in Tamil and Telugu languages.
