Director Karthick Naren who made a terrific debut with the gripping mystery thriller Dhuruvangal 16 has just wrapped up his next project Naragasooran. Gautham Menon produces the movie under the banner Ondraaga Entertainment. “I had Arvind Swamy in my mind for the lead character Deepak in Dhuruvangal Padhinaru. I even tried to on-board him, but due to some unavoidable circumstances, he couldn’t do that role. He is very down to earth. We again met after the film’s release. He was very interested in doing this character. I can’t explain his role without revealing the story; he’s playing a powerful role,” said Karthick Naren. Taling about signing Sundeep Kishan, Karthick said, “Though Sundeep Kishan has done many films in Telugu, my favourite is his Maanagaram. I liked his performance in that movie. When I told him about Naragasooran’s story, he was in Goa shooting for some other film. I went there and narrated him the story, and it was an immediate nod from him.”
“We hunted many heroines for Aathmika’s role, conducted auditions too. But no one suited the character,” Naren told about bringing Aathmika of Meesaya Murukku on board.
Like Dhuruvangal 16, Karthick’s Naragasooran too will have no songs in the film. “I felt songs will not be ideal for a suspense-thriller. Songs will reduce a thriller’s pace. But background score plays an integral part. I wanted the BG score to be unique and devoid of EDM. I asked my composer Ron to use organic instruments, and he too felt the same way.” Naragasooran is gearing up for a February 2018 release.
