Anushka Sharma‘s second production venture Phillauri released last Friday and managed to do brisk business. Considering the fact that it was made on a limited budget, the film has managed to earn money. It is still running at the box office and has made a total of Rs 21.03 crore in six days. By doing so, the film has earned more than the lifetime collection of Rangoon, which rests at Rs 20.68 crore. Rangoon, which released on February 24, was expected to earn well at the box office because the film had a good buzz. The presence of Shahid Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan in the same film also created noise since they are both linked to each other through Kareena Kapoor. Plus, before the film’s release, Kangana had mouthed some really fiery statements which kept the film in the headlines for a long time but unfortunately, despite all that, Rangoon failed to please the audience and wound up with only Rs. 20.68 crore earnings. Trade feels this was because the film was made on a huge budget. Whereas that’s exactly the point where Phillauri managed to make a mark. With a budget of only 21 crore, the film is well on its way to recover its investments. It has already earned Rs 12 crore in terms of satellite and music rights. The theatrical earnings are just profit gains. Check out its day-wise collection as of now.

Anushka Sharma and Diljit Dosanjh‘s Phillauri started off well when it released on March 24. It continued to grow and rake in the moolah over the weekend, ending with a total collection of Rs 15.25 crore in 3 days. Though many will feel that this is not a huge number, but considering that Phillauri released at just 1000 screens, this is a good amount. And with such a solid weekend, it has been able to beat the first-weekend collection of many women-centric films like NH10 (Rs 13.25 crore), Kahaani (15 crore), Sarbjit (Rs 13.96 crore) and Tanu Weds Manu (Rs 11.27 crore). With no big release, Phillauri stands to win some more quick bucks.
