Govinda feels audiences cannot connect with today’s heroes – watch video!

It is evening when BollywoodLife meets Govinda for the media interactions for Aa Gaya Hero. Dressed in a light blue blazer over a black silk shirt and matching pocket square, Govinda does not look 53 from any angle. He has given nine interviews so far and is tired but knows that promotions are crucial in today’s day and age. He settles down cheerily for our conversation that revolves around File of Abhinay Chakra Aa Gaya Hero. The film aims to bring back the quintessential star of the 90s in his trademark hero format. We know that he has delivered hits like Hero No.1, Coolie No.1 and Aunty No.1, which are quite watchable even today. Govinda admitted to us that he was nervous about the film. However, he agrees that box office is something that is only in the hands of the public. Aa Gaya Hero directed by Dipankar Senapati is made around a budget of 8 crores with extra five crores on advertising. In the past two weeks, there is a lot of talk about how Varun Dhawan is the new age Govinda but he admits that he was an original solely because of the fact that he came into the industry totally raw without any training like today’s actors do. In our interview, Govinda said that films today had vastly improved but the general mass had lost the connect with Bollywood heroes like it was in the past. He was also full of praise for Poonam Pandey whom he says is in a totally different avatar in the film. Though we don’t know much about the story, reports say it is a story about a fearless cop. The subject is very 90s but Govinda says the youth will identify with the subject on many levels.

The actor also spoke about the changes in the industry, his film, how numbers never bothered him and gave his take on the Khans doing just one film in a year. Govinda was articulate throughout the interview and his leaning for mass cinema was quite evident. Aa Gaya Hero releases today and we are sure his countless fans are cheering for him.
