Padmavati attack: Makers file a police complaint against vandalisers

Trouble just doesn’t seem to end for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati. We were among the first ones to tell you that the sets of Padmavati in Kolhapur have been burnt. Now this is something that has happened before in Jaipur too and its utterly disheartening to see it happen again. The incident took place last night in Kolhapur when the shooting was almost over. A company spokesperson of Bhansali Productions confirmed the news saying, “The sets of Padmavati set in Kolhapur in Maharashtra region witnessed an unfortunate incident last night at around 12.30am, when certain miscreants attacked the film’s set and set it on fire in an attempt to damage the property. A complaint has been filed to investigate this matter further, but we are grateful that there has been no loss of life or harm to anybody on the set. While, thankfully the incident occurred after we had wrapped our shoot for the day and all the artists, cast and crew were safely away; unfortunately, around 70 – 80% of costumes and jewellery for the movie have been destroyed.” As of now, no reports of any group taking the responsibility of the attack have been there. We got in touch with Bhansali Productions CEO Shobha Sant, and she was able to give out only a few details, as she herself was unaware of any updates at the moment. ”“Our junior costumes and crowd costumes have all been burnt down,” she revealed. “The police are investigating, and by the end of the day we will get to know what the matter was,” she said. Just two months ago, the members of Karni Sena attacked Padmavati sets in Jaipur where they vandalized all property and created a ruckus on the sets. The video of the attack went viral and the entire film industry came out in support of the filmmaker.
