Rajkummar Rao does not want to be trapped in this Bollywood stereotype – watch video

Rajkummar Rao has always fallen under the stereotype of being one of Bollywood’s unconventional actors. With his upcoming movie, Trapped, he has further been pushed to pursuing that title. However, when we asked him what is that one stereotype he wouldn’t want in Bollywood, the actor has a really interesting take. So in an EXCLUSIVE interview with BollywoodLife, the actor spoke about Trapped and what it’s like to be trapped in a stereotype. As our question and answer round went on, we asked him what is that one cliche that the actor wouldn’t want to be trapped in. To this, he said that he would rather not want to be approached by directors and told that he should do a certain kind of movies because it sells.

He seemed quite upset with the way filmmakers have the notion about what the audience might like or not like. In our video, he stated how it irks him when a filmmaker tells him what they think would sell. Because he thinks there’s no guarantee on what would sell. So he doesn’t like the term that ‘the audience wants it’. Filmmaker of Trapped, Vikramaditya was also present with us and he too agreed with the actor. He further added that a job of a director is to challenge the audience or better yet, challenge themselves. Quite sensible, don’t you think?

We also asked the actor-filmmaker duo whether any Hollywood inspirations were taken for the film. To this Rajkummar said that he doesn’t believe in watching any movies to draw inspiration. He believes that he would like to give his perception of the character to the film and not rip off an already presented role to the audience with nothing different. Trapped is set to release on March 17, that is in the next two days and while we’re waiting with bated breath to see the actor, we think you should too! Because the premise of the film is very intriguing.
