The winners of the 46th Kerala State Film Awards will be finally announced today at 5pm. Meanwhile, there is a crazy buzz about the potential winners. As per reports on IBIT, 68 movies have been shortlisted, out of which 12 have made it to the final list. There’s Mohanlal’s Oppam, Vysakh’s Pulimurugan, Dulquer’s Kammatipaadam, Dr Biju’s Kaadu Pookunna Neram, Dileep’s Pinneyum, Fahadh’s Maheshinte Prathikaram to name a few. Rumours suggest Mohanlal might bag the Best Actor Award, Fahadh Fasil, Dulquer are also the other contenders. Some suggest, Vinayakan might bag the prestigious for his impressive performance in Kammati Paadham. As for the best actress category,Kavya Madhavan, Rima Kallingal are in the race. With respect to the most entertaining film of the year, Pulimurugan, Kammatipaadam, Maheshinte Prathikaram are the top contenders. Reportedly, the jury members watched the movies at Kinfra Film and Video Park. As per the new rules, they are allowed to watch each movie in groups of three but they watched all movies together. Along with deciding whether a movie moves to the next round, they also look out for individual performances of the actors.

While we await the results eagerly, here’s looking at winners of the past years In 2015, Dulquer Salmaan and Parvathy bagged the prestigious title, Dulquer even beat his own father who was one of the contenders.  in 2014, it was jointly won by Nivin Pauly- Sudev Nair in the best Actor category, and Nazriya Nazim won in the Best Actress category.  in 2013, Fahadh Fasil, Lal won jointly, while Ann Augustine won the prestigious title in her category. In 2012, Prithviraj won this coveted title while Rima Kallingal won in the respective category.

From the looks of it, Mohanlal hasn’t won an award in the last 4 years. May be this year, he will strike gold?
