Vidyut Jammwal and Adah Sharma‘s Commando 2 released on March 3 and while it has not performed exceptionally well, the movie has managed to beat the opening weekend collection of its prequel – Commando. The sequel has managed to earn Rs 15.75 crore in the first three days as compared to the Rs 11.18 crore that Commando had raked in. Obviously, the franchise factor and the larger screens space have helped Commando 2 beat its prequel, but things aren’t looking so good for the sequel as well.
With 2200 screens, we expected Commando 2 to rake in even more money over the first weekend. The low buzz and the mixed reviews dented the chances of Commando 2 taking a huge opening at the box office. And while the sequel has performed better than Commando at the box office, people still prefer the Commando over the second part. Check out the audience reaction right here:
The critics haven’t been that kind on the movie too. Commando 2 didn’t get good reviews when it released. Our reviewer, Ankita Chaurasia mentioned in her review that the movie is “disappointing”. Film critic and author Anupama Chopra (Film Companion), also suggested, “Commando 2 – The Black Money Trail is one of those fabulously foolish films that make you laugh and groan at the same time.” Renowned film critic Rajeev Masand (Entertainment Editor of CNN-IBN) also added, “This film gets tiring very quickly. Sadly, it feels as pointless as a demonetized 500-rupee note.” ALSO READ – Vidyut Jammwal’s Commando 2 is no match for Hugh Jackman’s Logan over the first weekend
With such dismal reviews, Commando 2 has been affected. Commando 2 will surely cross the lifetime collections of Commando pretty soon but that could be the only ace up its sleeves. This is because once Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt’s Badrinath Ki Dulhania releases this Friday, it will surely suffer more.
