Karan Johar and Anurag Kashyap have been ranting on Twitter about the Sanjay Leela Bhansali incident for almost the whole day. They’ve openly shown their support and asked industry folks to step in and keep their differences aside for this matter. For those unaware, here’s what has happened. According to reports, the Karni Sena of Jaipur created a ruckus on the sets of Padmavati by breaking expensive equipment and damaging the place. Some of the protesters also marched towards the national Award winning filmmaker and attacked him. A video of the same even surfaced on social media and has since gone viral. Anyway, so with the way Bhansali has been treated has not gone down well with Bollywood. Both filmmakers, Kashyap and Karan have been tweeting about the same since morning. However, they have also been attacked by Twitterati for sharing their views on social media.

In a series of tweets, Anurag had stated, “Hindu extremists have stepped out of twitter into the real world now.. and Hindu terrorism is not a myth anymore” To this, someone replied, “@anuragkashyap72 hey buddy let me give u free advice “stop sleeping with @karanjohar ” It is as nasty as it sounds. Soon, a frustrated Johar reacted to the series of tweets by saying, “Let me give you some better advice!! Start sleeping with someone!!! You frustrated Fuck!!!!” Damn, surely people have hit some sensitive nerves by saying such terrible things. You can check out their Twitter exchange below.

An official statement was finally released sometime ago by the Padmavati team on the controversy. Here it goes, “Sanjay Leela Bhansali has shot two films in Jaipur and despite his love for Rajasthan, for the safety of his crew, we have decided to stop the shoot and leave the city post the shocking incident where miscreants damaged property and misbehaved with the crew on the shoot of ‘Padmavati’. SLB had directed the opera ‘Padmavati’ to packed houses in Paris and earned worldwide praise for it. They event clarified about the rumoured story that there’s a lovemaking scene in a dream sequence between Alauddin and Padmavati, “We clarify that there is no dream sequence or any objectionable scene between Rani Padmavati and Allauddin Khilji. We have been carefully researching and making the film. In spite of this, the attack on the shoot and crew was uncalled for and was extremely damaging to the image of the beautiful city of Jaipur. We are grateful to the authorities at Jaipur who responded promptly and limited the damage on shoot. We are confident that Mewar will be proud of the film made on their revered queen. We do not want to hurt any sentiments and would appreciate if the local people support us in making this film and making their queen revered by the world.”
