Dil Se Dil Tak, Dil Hai Hindustani, Woh Apna Sa – shows to look forward to in 2017

The super chemistry between Rashami Desai and Sidharth Shukla have had us excited for Dil Se Dil Tak while Woh Apna Sa is the TV adaptation of We Are Family. Last year we saw many exciting trends on TV with producers shooting outdoors, using VFX and exploring bold themes. The concept of relatable stories will be carried forward in 2017 too and the focus is slowly shifting away from saas-bahu sagas. Makers want to appeal to the youth audience and actors who have following online. Some of the shows we are damn kicked about are Ghulam, Chandrakanta and Dil Hai Hindustani. Here is a look at shows to look forward to in 2017…

Dil Se Dil Tak
This show will be on air after Bigg Boss 10 wraps up. Based on the Abbas Mustan film, Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, it deals with the theme of surrogacy. The show has the fresh pairing of Sidharth Shukla and Rashami Desai. Jasmin Bhasin joins the gang in the role played by Preity Zinta in the film. The promos showcased the superb chemistry between Sidharth and Rashami and we cannot wait to watch the first episode. Sidharth is making a return to the daily soap space after a couple of years with Dil Se Dil Tak. It is produced by Shashi and Sumeet Mittal who made Diya Aur Baati Hum.

Woh Apna Sa
Another film-inspired show, this one is a TV adaptation of We Are Family. The show sees the comeback of Ridhi Dogra and Disha Parmar after a long time. Ssudeep Sahir is the lead actor. It is produced by Siddharth P Malhotra who directed the film that had Kareena Kapoor Khan as the stepmom.

Chandrakanta
Remember Krutika Desai from DD’s Chandrakanta? The story is all set to be told on two channels Life Ok and Colors in the New Year. Nikhil Sinha of Siya Ke Ram is making it for Life Ok while the one on Colors will reportedly have Hina Khan. With the VFX on Indian TV improving a bit, we are curious to see the new tale of the tilasmi duniya.

Ghulam
Raw and gritty, Ghulam takes us through the bad lands of North India, where guns, loyalty and aggression rule. It also has the unusual pairing of the talented Param Singh and cute Niti Taylor. Vikas Manaktala is also seen as a dominating gang lord. The show will replace Nagarjuna on Life Ok.

Peshwa Bajirao
While Sanjay Leela Bhansali dedicated a magnum opus to the love story of Bajirao and Mastani, this TV show will trace the whole life of the legendary Maratha warrior. The show will air on Sony TV replacing Ek Rishta Saajhedaari Ka. It stars Manish Wadhwa and Anuja Sathe.

Dil Hai Hindustani
A singing show with a difference, it will have people of varied nationalities singing Bollywood songs. The panel of judges is also very fresh and exciting – Shekhar Ravjiani, Karan Johar, Shalmali Kholgade and rapper Badshah. Star Plus’ show will air from next weekend.

Rising Star
This is a live singing reality show and Colors is bringing the franchise to India. Shankar Mahadevan and Diljit Dosanjh are the judges.

Meri Durga
Keeping with its theme of women’s empowerment, Meri Durga is about a girl who fulfils her working class father’s dream. The story is also set in Haryana.

Agniphera
Produced by noted director Ravi Raj, Agniphera will apparently replace Brahmarakshas. It stars Ankit Gera and Yukti Kapoor in lead roles. Ankit has a successful outing with ZEE TV with Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke. Stay tuned to Bollywood Life for more updates…
