My Library of Albums -- This isn't a list of every album I've ever owned or listened to...not even close. Instead, my Library includes all the albums I keep in my personal collection, all the albums of artists I admire (whether I liked every album or not) and any albums I liked (three stars or more). Once upon a time, if you walked into my home you'd see bookcases filled with compact discs. Later you'd have to browse my hard drive for digital downloads. Now, with so many titles accessed via streaming, you'll just have to take my word for it. These are the albums that make up my virtual library.

The library is heavily weighted towards recent years, since that's when I began keeping a record of everything I listened to. I try to fill in the blanks, but keep stumbling on odd omissions. I just realized I hadn't included anything by Peter Gabriel, for example! In other cases, it's been too long since I've listened to certain albums and I don't want to blithely slap on a rating. Do Elvis Costello's first two albums deserve 3 1/2 star or a perfect 4 stars? I need to spin them again before deciding. Sometimes, I just haven't listened to a lot by a certain act. I rally like AC/DC's Highway To Hell and Back In Black, for example. But I'm not much of a heavy metal fan and just haven't checked out much else by them, so far. ABBA's Gold is a masterpiece but I haven't included any of their 70s albums? Well, back in the 1980s, I wasn't ready to spend $15 to find out how good they were and I suspected they were more of a singles act. Now, when I can listen to any of their albums whenever I want, it's just a matter of time before I dig deeper.  

In other words, this is a never-ending work in progress.
