Today Karen has an alternative way (well better way to be honest!) of making the pull strap closure for the Fiona's Freeway, to share with you! Over to you Karen:

When I made my Fiona's Freeway I wasn't happy with my Pull Strap Closure. My stitching looked messy where I had tied the ends off, and it looked rather flat, as you can see below on the left.  So I came up with my own more rounded version which you can see on the right, and in case you would like to do the same, here is how I made it.

 a) Cut your Pull Strap Closure piece 2 and 3/8" by 1"

 b) Topstitch 1/8" from the top and bottom (long) edges (I fit my stitch in the ditch foot and move the needle to the far left to get 1/8" and use a 3.5 length).

c) Fold in half and draw a line down the centre on the R/S.  Then draw a line 1/8" in from each end on the W/S.  (I used a frixion pen as I can rub it off with it's eraser rather than use the iron).

c) Fold one end towards the middle, matching the 1/8"  line to the centre line.  Repeat for other side so they overlap and all 3 lines are matched up.  Make sure edges are all level and clip.

 d) Stitch down the centre, catching both ends down, backstitching at the beginning and end (or you can leave long tails and tie them off if you can do it neater than me!).  Erase your frixion pen 

 e) Using a safety pin or bodkin if needed, thread each Pull Strap end through the Pull Strap Closure, one on each side.  Make sure your Pull Strap is correctly orientated.

 That's it, just another way you may like to try for your pull strap closure, here's how my Fiona's Freeway looked when I finished it.
