Company Results

Asda have reported a 3.6% increase in sales for the 12 weeks to 30 September 2017. Like-for-like sales increased by 1.1% for the same period.

B&M have reported a 21.7% increase in group revenue to £1.3bn for the 26 weeks to 23 September 2017. Like-for-like sales increased by 7.5%, while pre-tax profit increased by 17.8% for the same period.

Sofa.com have reported a 14.2% increase in UK sales to £27.4m for the 52 weeks to 28 February 2017. UK operating profit decreased by 59.4% for the same period.

Card Factory have reported a 6.7% increase in total sales for the nine months to 31 October 2017.

Farfetch have reported an increase in sales from £87.1m to £151.3m for the year to 31 December 2016. Pre-tax loss increased to £34.0m for the same period. (Source: Retail Week)

Game Digital PLC have reported a 3.6% decrease in revenue to £782.9m for the 52 weeks to 29 July 2017. Loss before tax stood at £10.0m for the same period.

Ikea UK have reported a 5.8% increase in sales to £1.8bn for the year to 31 August 2017. (Source: BBC)

Ted Baker have reported a 14.0% increase in group revenue to £295.7m for the 28 weeks to 12 August 2017. Profit before tax increased by 17.8% to £25.3m for the same period.

Lifestyle LFLs were up by +0.18% this week from a base of -2.03% for the same week last year. The result marked its second successive positive week, following two negative weeks prior to that. Results were polarised this week, with 50% of respondents reporting positive LFL growth.
Fashion LFLs were down by a significant -6.50% this week from a strong base of +5.78% last year, which at the time was the second best result of the year to that point. 76% of respondents reported negative LFLs this week.
Homeware LFLs were up by +3.70% from an already strong base of +14.48% for the same week last year. This was the second positive week in a row for homeware, which has been positive in three of the last four weeks.
Non-store LFLs were muted this week as consumers continued to hold back on spending. Well below the +20% threshold, non-store sales were up by +10.65% from a base of +18.26% for the same week last year.

Clothing, Footwear & Accessories

Birkenstock, the German shoe company, have announced plans to open their first brand-owned flagship store in the UK at London’s Seven Dials, Covent Garden. Covering 1,100 sq.ft over two floors, the shop will stock a collection of sandals for men, women and children. (Source: Drapers)
