Interesting Spots To Visit In Cuchara Colorado

By Jason Cooper

If there is a country that is blessed with an abundance of plant and wildlife, it is the US. One highly favored travel hotspot is Cuchara Colorado. This is a town located right in the middle of the San Isabel National Forest. It is toured by both local and international tourists every year.

The location is great for a wide range of outdoor activities. Its meandering rivers are excellent for fishing. There are nature trails that are good for hiking and mountain biking as well. If you are traveling in an RV, you might want to bring you camping gear as well. Alternatively, you may reside at one of the many cabins and condos available locally.

Majority of the cabins available can accommodate anywhere from 6 to 10 guests. They are built in an array of styles, so the only thing you need to focus on is organizing your finances. Some of cabins are built in the middle of the forest. The majority, however, are situated by the roads that lead to the key attractions.

When choosing a cabin, ensure you pay attention to detail before agreeing to settle in. This is because some do not have entertainment equipment such as TVs and internet connectivity. Many travelers prefer them as what they usually want is some quietness away from the bustle of the city. Regardless of your choice, you are assured of getting a cabin with a fireplace and a comfy deck for excellent views of your surroundings.

There are a plethora of interesting spots that deserve mentioning. One such spot is the Bishop Castle. Sixty years have passed since its first foundation stone was laid. Its extensive construction period is a real testament of the persevering heart of Jim Bishop, the founder.

Every year, visitors travel to the site to hold weddings by its lush outdoors and to admire the architecture and the surrounding environment. The castle is made up of bridges, soaring towers and a grand ballroom. In every sense of the word, it is a marvel to behold. The grounds are open throughout the year and the owners levy no charges for accessing it.

The Walsenburg Water Park is a top attraction as well. It is an all inclusive amusement area that consists of fountains, splash buckets and two giant water slides. It is a perfect setting for kids. The park is open every day except Mondays and Tuesdays.

For a time travel experience, head to the Rio Grande Scenic Railroad. It was launched in 1878 and traverses many marvelous areas. Despite its age, the railroad still stands strong. Between 1890 and 1950, its tracks were used by passenger trains that transported the locals. Later on, it was converted for cargo use.

The last leg of your tour should be a trip to the local festivals. One great festival is the La Veta Oktoberfest held along the main street. It takes place each first Saturday of October. The festival is thirty one years old as of 2017. You can easily find accommodation within the town, so this should not be something to worry about.
