Fine art fights the patriarchy at Paris Fashion Week

This year, Paris Fashion Week isn't just about the catwalk. Work by leading female artists is also going on show, in a pop-up gallery curated by The House of Fine Art (HOFA).

Curated by HOFA co-founder, Simonida Pavicevic, the themes of the show are self-discovery through art, femininity and feminism, and the fluidity of sensory perception.

The exhibition, entitled 'Women in the Arts', showcases the mixed media work of Ilhwa Kim, Romina Ressia, Camille Hannah, Loribelle Spirovski, Wang Ziling and Emmanuelle Rybojad, alongside jewellery designs created by HOFA's sister company, The House of Luxury (HOL).

Loribelle Spirovski’s work of introspection expresses subterranean emotions through brushstrokes imbued with the memories of past experiences, while Camille Hannah and Romina Ressia's work takes on the influences of patriarchy and perceptions of femininity in contrasting Artistic Styles.

Ilhwa Kim's meticulously sculpted seed universes, replete with textures and organic abundance, explore ever-evolving colours and depths, while Wang Ziling's acrylic sculptures redefine perceived boundaries, and Emmanuelle Rybojad's optical art installations harness peppy pop-art tropes and illusions.

"Contemporary female artists are boldly embracing the varied media and artistic styles of today, using them to interrogate and explore dimensions of modern life in ways that are sensual and also intellectual," says Pavicevic. "The worlds of high fashion and art are in many ways intertwined, and this exhibition is a very literal play on that connection."
