come home, HONEY

My local farmer’s market is almost done for the season.  Because the market uses the parking lot between the American Legion and the post office, it is only available to us from late Spring to early Fall.  The worst of it is that it will likely cut off my supplie of golden goodness, local honey.  

My work has prominently featured golden hues lately, and I’ve fallen in love with some metallic Japanese watercolors.  I’ve even spent some time making my own metallic watercolors, using honey as a humectant.  Luckily, my paints don’t require Mason jars from the local farmer’s market.  Have you fallen under the spell of the glint of gold, the glow of gamboge hue, or the warmth of yellow ocre?  If so, here’s a great opportunity in San Diego.  Take a look…

MEDIA: Open to all 2-D & 3-D artwork that fits on a pedestal. Photography, fabric & journal pages are welcome if prepared for hanging.

THEME:  Gold.  “Do you have the ‘Midas touch’ with gold in your artwork? Let’s see what you have been creating. All that glitters is not gold… any of the metallic paints are eligible as well as golden colors (mustard, yellow oxide, yellow ochre, etc) . . . . makes it eligible.”

JUROR:  Leonardo Bravo, Director at Palm Springs Art Museum. He is the founder and organizer of Big City Forum, an interdisciplinary, social practice and curatorial research project that brings attention to emergent practices across design, architecture, and the arts. It provides an ongoing exploration of the intersections between these creative disciplines and new ways of knowledge making within the context of public space and social change. Over the last three years he has been the Director of Education and Public Programs wfth the Palm Springs Art Museum
